National Day Parade 2009 ♥
Being involved in this year's National Day Parade is a new experience for me.
The title : A walk to remember - is a walk which I would want to remember for my whole life as a Singaporean.
It has been a week since NDP09 is over.
I always love to attend National Day Parade as a civilian but getting the ticket is another problem. This year,I do not need to get a ticket,I can even march on the platform.
I am in the National Police Cadet Corps Contingent (:
Though I am not any big shot there, but the whole parade reflects on -
"Everyone has a part,an important role to play"
Total Defence Display from all various forces in Singapore,
this is my first time seeing all the wonderful and high-technology created equipments which help to defend Singapore.
Preparing for the actual parade.
Though nervous, but we still put on our smile! :D
As we marched in,singing the song "We Are One" 30,000 audience on the grandstand, waving the heart-shaped torch and the Singapore flag.
What a pretty sight which Singapore get to witness once every year.
We work in harmony With our fellowman
We are the people of this land We have to move ahead to do the best we can
We are the ones to defend our land
(CHORUS)
We live in unity Working hand in hand
Within this land that we defend
We have to leave the past
to strive for higher planes We have to train to achieve our aims
(CHORUS)
We push ourselves ahead to our destiny
To make this country strong and free And as we go marching on
We sing this melody
So let us strive on to victory
Chorus :
We are one
Marching on We are the strong defenders of this country Moving on we believe
That we can achieve
So let us serve our home - Singapore
Moving on we believe
That we can achieve
So let us serve our home - Singapore!
Amirul who will always be the one giving the cue "chorus!" and everyone will give all out to the chorus. Everyone was smiling as we all sing along.
Mr.President SR Nathan arrived and the National Anthem were being played.
Singing the National Anthem as the state flag fly past,up high above.
Every single one is singing along, catching their breath to sing even louder.
March Past of the parade is a highlight :)
Tilting to the right,we get to see our President.
City March of 3.2 kilometres - Marching along the city landmarks and the padang. The longest march ever in my cadet life.
Band played "We Are One" and singing together as a whole.
There were huge crowds and words of encouragements everywhere!
Upon reaching the Singapore Flyer,we took the pledge with all the contingents and the National Anthem. Echoes under the highway as we took the pledge.
From the 1st training at Nee Soon Camp to the actual day at Marina Bay Floating Platform, though under the humid weather,it doesn't pull our morale down :)
The endurance, the passion and the commitment that we had put in into this parade.
It is the love for our nation which keeps us going.
We want to give Singapore the best parade :)
And we did it.
At least,I think we made it.
Scoldings and screamings from the trainers pushed us forward.
Encouragements from others give us motivation to aim for the best.
Parade Regimental Sergeant Major Master Warrant Officer Devendran
Shouting CapitaLand's timing together "1,2,3,4 - 1,check!" with other uniformed groups.
We sang all the Singapore Songs which was played before our parade. Jumping up when Presidential Gun Salute was released.
Wanted to turn back and have a look at the fireworks as we were marching but we have to observe discipline and trainers were there.
We always thought 9 columns are impossible to wheel on march but we did it!
"Check your dressing!" - Trainers
Queueing up for the long queue just for a cup of water?
Going really hyper over the hot guys there. It is this year's National Day Parade,I find that there are actually many hot guys in Singapore :)
Beautiful memories are created with the sweetest smiles.
Singing birthday song for Guo Li :)
Same birthday as Singapore!
Happy belated birthday again Guo Li!
And FI Joseph changed his hairstyle on the actual day!
Last parade in your FI life, hope we had given you a memorable one (:
Thank you for your chocolates!

Dear contingentmates,
Thank you for all the wonderful memories (:
All the beautiful memories will not only stay in me,it will stay in all of us.
NDP09 will be the best parade I've ever attended in my whole cadet life.
The main reason is not because of the hot guys there, but because there are hot people like all of you (: Trainings from Nee Soon Camp to Marina, how many trainings were there? 13 + 2 internal trainings.
As we march past for the one last actual round - Good job man.
Because all the efforts were finally paid off during the last round.
It doesn't matter if we can march together as a contingent in the platform again because we will always march together as one,as NPCC cadets and as Singaporeans :)
Till now when I am thinking of all of us,I don't know if I should smile, cry or laugh.
Cry because I miss all of you. Smile because we'd gone through so much.
I stepped into HTA without knowing anyone at all.
I stepped into Nee Soon Camp without communicating much.
I stepped into Marina Floating Platform with smiles all over my face.
Because I know I made new friends and they are awesome people (:
It doesn't matter if people spot us on television. One for all,all for one.
Who is the best? Of course NPCC la!
CCR 2 : Plasters on my knees wound
CCR 3 : Bandange on my knees wound
CCR 4 : Hole in hairnet

Dear Trainers,

"NPCC,Check your dressing!" Almost every trainers had said this at least thrice. Haha.
We may not be the most perfect contingent in the whole of NDP,
but we are willing to try our best to be as perfect as we can.
And also, thank you for those who shared some of your experiences (:
That is how I know you too.
And I still miss you.
No more NDP trainings.
No more staring at you.
More time to forget you.
Few videos here by Mr.Brown (Youtube : Mistabrown)
Without people behind the scene,we will not have a smooth journey for this few months of trainings and the actual day.
The ones that you asked for directions.
The ones that arrive first, leave last.
The ones who you might have even given them a piece of your mind.
The ones to ensure your safety.
The ones who guarantee your seats and fun packs.

About Me Koh Ching Na
Why Freedomofdoves? Ever heard of the song - "Paint My Love" by Michael Learns To Rock? Listen to the chorus and you might find out the answer from there. I am not a huge fan of doves but I just find that this uniform resource locator of my blog sounds really comely and it gives me a halcyon feeling. This is where I blog about the story of my life...
Every individual is different. I am a very hyper active person with effervescent personality and I am very sociable :) During my leisure time, I visit the museums or go cycling at the beach. My preferences for genres of music are easy listening, blues, classical and pop. I also search for beautiful pictures for inspirations. I only watch Hong Kong Dramas and news.
Under my parents consent, I have an english name - Athena, as many people do not know how to pronounce my name. I live in this famous little red dot, Singapore. People often mistaken me as a foreigner but I am a pure Singaporean :) My mother is an Indonesian and my father is a Singaporean. Not considering the fact that we are near to the equator, Singapore, this developed country is a wonderful place to live in. Be it traditional songs or NDP theme songs, they are still my favorites.
I attended PAP Kindergarden from 1998 - 2000, Braddell Primary School in 2001, First Toa Payoh Primary School from 2002-2006 and currently studying in Beatty Secondary School. I am a Normal Academic student and holding on to six subjects which are English, Elementary Mathematics, Chinese, Combined Science, Combined Humanities and Design and Technology. This year, I will be taking seven Normal level papers and one Ordinary level English paper.
My greatest wish in life is to travel around the world with my family or friends and be a happy person. I think that is how life should be :) My level of maturity depends on who I am with.
I am from the National Police Cadet Corps and held the post of Assistant Head of Administration and Secondary Two Squad Mentor. In 2008, I was chosen to participate in the NPCC Annual Parade in Home Team Academy. In 2009, I took part in the National Day Parade as a member of the NPCC contingent. In my own unit, I was in the Guard Of Honor Contingent in 2009 and 2010. After the National Day Parade, under NPCC, I went for the five days four nights Outward Bound Singapore Camp in Pulau Ubin. I also feel honored to be one of the 30 cadets who went for the seven days and six nights NPCC Overseas Educational Trip to Hong Kong and Macau from 17 November 2009 to 23 November 2009.
